Waiver Wire Picks

Marcus Thornton - New Orleans Hornets - Guard
The Skinny: After losing the starting gig to Mo Peterson due to a back injury before the All-Star break, Thornton's production went down big and was dropped by virtually all owners. Well, you better check your waiver wire now if he's still available after he dropped 37 pts, 3 3's, 2 asts and 2 stls against the Cavaliers. He was totally unstoppable in the 2nd quarter where he scored 23 of his 37 pts and set a new franchise record for points made in a quarter. In his last 3 games, he has averaged 26.7 pts, 2.3 3's, 4.7 rebs, 1.3 asts and 1.3 stls. Congratulations are in order if you remained patient with him during his poor stretch as he is sure to light up the box scores with his offensive firepower.
Why He's Risky: Despite coming off the bench, he is still more potent than current starter Mo Peterson. The only risk you have is if let another owner pluck him up the waiver wire before you do.

Waiver Wire Picks

The trade deadline has passed and there was a lot of wheelin' and dealin' that happened in the League. Below are some waiver wire picks that should benefit from the most recent transactions in the NBA.

Tyrus Thomas - Charlotte Bobcats - Forward
John Salmons - Milwaukee Bucks - Guard-Forward

The Skinny: The Chicago Bulls have shipped Tyrus Thomas to the Charlotte Bobcats and John Salmons to the Milwaukee Bucks.  After they both languished on the bench in Chicago, the former Bulls teammates are now going their separate ways and have a fresh start with their new respective teams. John Salmons should eventually start over the incumbent Charlie Bell after he averaged 19 pts, 2.5 3's, 3 rebs, 3.5 asts, and 1 stl in his last two as a Buck. Meanwhile, Tyrus Thomas should get plenty of burn as his real competition for mins Tyson Chandler and Nazr Mohammed. He has averaged 10.5 pts, 11.5 rebs, 2 asts and a mind-boggling 5 swats in his last 2 games. Both are primed for a great second half.
Why They're Risky: Salmons is still just shooting just 36.7 % from the field and still has stiff competition in mins with Luke Ridnour, Charlie Bell, Royal Ivey, Ersan Ilyasova and Jerry Stackhouse. Tyrus Thomas on the other hand can easily go back to his new coach's doghouse as he did in Chicago if he's not careful.

The Supers and The Stinkers

The Supers
( S-tat stuffing U-ltra P-roductive & E-fficient R-oto S-tuds)

Point-Guard:
1. Derrick Rose - Chicago Bulls

Stat Line: 29 pts ( 14-18 FGs, 1- FTs) 3 rebs, 6 asts, 1 stl and 2 TOs.
Why he's on top: Monster game in just 27 mins. Solid percentages. Could of had a sick line if the Knicks didn't suck so much.

2. Deron Williams - Utah Jazz
Stat Line: 17 pts (6-14 FGs, 1 3's, 4-4 FTs) 3 rebs, 15 asts, 1 stl, 1 blk and 4 TOs.

Why he's 2nd best: D-will filled up the stat sheet, but Rose was definitely more efficient tonight. The TOs are killer man.

3. Devin Harris - New Jersey Nets

Stat Line: 17 pts. ( 7-16 FGs, 1 3's, 2-3 FTs ) 6 rebs, 9 asts, 1 blk and 3 TOs.

Why he's solid: Flirted with a triple-double on this one. The Nets wouldn't be on their current predicament if Harris was playing like this all season.

Waiver Wire Picks

Anthony Morrow - Golden State Warriors - Guard-Forward

The Skinny: Anthony Morrow returned from a 10-game absence due to an ankle injury and put on a show in the last 2 games that included a season high 33 pts, 11 rebs against the Dallas Mavericks and a 26 pts, 10 rebs against the Clippers . He averaged a whopping 29.5 pts, 10.5 rebs, 5 asts and 4 3's in those games. Plus, he's a Nellie favorite.

Why he's risky: Be careful though as team's top scorers Monta Ellis and Corey Maggette are set to return next week and will definitely cut into Morrow's minutes and touches. He is still worth the gamble due to Magette's and Ellis' history of injuries.

Point-Guard:

Why he's on top: Not a terrific line but solid compared to the other PGs.

2. Daniel Gibson - Cleveland Cavaliers.
Stat Line: 11 pts ( 4-7 FGs, 3 3's ) 3 rebs, 5 asts and 1 stl.

Why he's 2nd best: Not a flashy line but was still better than the other PGs that played. Very efficient line and didn't hurt you anywhere.

The Supers
( S-tat stuffing U-ltra P-roductive & E-fficient R-oto S-tuds)

Point-Guard:

1. Stephen Curry - Golden State Warriors

Stat Line: 36 pts ( 11-22 FGs, 7 3's, 7-8 FTs) 10 rebs, 13 asts, 3 stls and 6 TOs.
Why he's on top: Monster triple-double for the rookie. 7 3's and 3 stls are outrageous. I want my Curry triple spicy tonight baby!!( this one's for you Erik.)

2. Steve Blake - Portland Trailblazer
Stat Line: 20 pts (7-12 FGs, 2 3's, 4-4 FTs) 2 rebs, 12 asts, 2 stls, 1 blk and 1 TO.

Why he's 2nd best: White Chocolate in da house!! Stat-filling 20 and 10 with sweet percentages and low TOs that doesn't hurt you anywhere. But Curry's line just too spectacular.

3. Devin Harris - New Jersey Nets

Stat Line: 27 pts. ( 9-17 FGs, 1 3's, 8-10 FTs ) 3 rebs, 9 asts, 1 stl and 5 TOs.

Why he's solid: 1 asts shy of double-double. 5 TOs were the only negative to this otherwise great line.

Point-Guard:

1. Tyreke Evans - Sacramento Kings

Stat Line: 27 pts (11-26 FGs, 5-7 FTs) 10 rebs, 6 ast, 1 stl and 3 TOs
Why he's on top: Impressive line. Rookie was just 4 asts shy of a triple-double.

2. Derrick Rose - Chicago Bulls
Stat Line: 21 pts (9-18 FGs, 3-3 FTs) 4 rebs, 7 asts, 2 stls and 5 TO.

Why he's 2nd best: Solid line with great percentages, TOs were the only negative.

3. Deron Williams - Utah Jazz

Stat Line: 13 pts ( 4-13 FGs, 5-6 FTs) 6 rebs, 11 asts, 1 stl and 3 TOs.

Why he's solid:Flirted with triple-double, but FG% and TOs were a real downer.

The Supers
( S-tat stuffing U-ltra P-roductive & E-fficient R-oto S-tuds)

Point-Guard:

1. Darren Collison - New Orleans Hornets

Stat Line: 27 pts (12-22 FGs, 1 3's, 2-4 FTs) 3 rebs, 9 ast, 4 stls and 4 TOs
Why he's on top: Monster numbers!! If Collison wasn't written on the back of his jersey, we would have thought it was Chris Paul playing.

2. Jason Kidd - Dallas Mavericks
Stat Line: 17 pts (5-9 FGs, 4 3's 3-4 FTs) 4 rebs, 12 asts, 3 stls and 1 TO.

Why he's 2nd best: Super line, but Collison's numbers are just to hard to ignore. He's a very close 2nd.

3. Stephen Curry - Golden State Warriors
Stat Line: 25 pts ( 9-20 FGs, 1 3's, 6-6 FTs) 2 rebs, 9 asts, 2 stls and 3 TOs

Why he's solid: A very very solid line for the rookie, against Jason Kidd no less.

PG - Rajon Rondo - Boston Celtics

Rajon Rondo did almost everything for the Boston Celtics but still fell to the Orlando Magic. Rondo scored 17 pts ( 7-13 FGs, even had 2 3's, 1-3FTs) with 8 rebs, 9 asts and 3 stls. Despite his stellar play, Celtics are now in 3rd place in the East and are now 1 game behind the Magic.

Waiver Wire Picks

This weeks edition of Waver Wire Picks takes us to 5 players that were recently inserted in their respective teams starting line-up and have been productive so far. Here's my Top 5....

1. Nate Robinson - New York Knicks - Point Guard

Chris Duhon is out, Nate Robinson is in. After languishing in Mike D' Antoni's doghouse in the month of December, Robinson is now in good graces with his coach and has been inserted in the starting line-up. In his first game as a starter, Lil' Nate notched 13 pts,  4 rebs, 7 asts and 1 stl. He followed it up with 26 pts, 5 3's, 4 rebs, 6 asts and a stl. against the Cavs. He's probably not in your waiver but grab him fast  if he was recently dropped from your league as he has potential in points, 3's, assists, and steals.

The Supers and The Stinkers

PG - Russell Westbrook - Oklahoma City Thunder

Russell Westbrook burned the warriors for 21 pts ( 8-17 FGs, 5-6FTs) 7 rebs, 10 asts, 8 stl, 2 TOs. After averaging almost a triple double the past few games, he upped the ante and almost scored a quadruple double. Congratulations are in order if you got to buy him low when he was struggling two weeks ago.

Honorable Mention:
Nate Robinson - New York Knicks
26 pts (9-18 FGs 5 3's 3-3 FTs) 4 rebs 6 asts 1 stl 1 blk 1TO .

Maybe we should start calling him "Triple-Double Russell", sounds good?

The Supers & The Stinkers

Welcome to the first edition of The Supers and The Stinkers . In this article we look at the league's daily top 5 performers from every position, the S-tat stuffing U-ltra P-roductive & E-fficient R-oto S-tuds or as we like to call them The Supers . Also in this same article we have The Stinkers, the day's worst 5 performers that we feel literally took a dump on your roster spot and gave you a pile of sh*t. These are the players that stink, period. (yup, no acronyms needed here, the name says it all.) So here's today's best and worst:

The Supers

PG - Devin Harris - New Jersey Nets

Devin Harris, who missed 4 games due to a wrist injury, notched 24 pts (7-14 FGs, 10-11FTs), 5 rebs, a season-high 14 asts, 3 TOs and one block in another loss to the struggling Pistons. The Nets are now 4-43 for the season and are on pace of getting the distinction of having the worst record of all-time by an NBA team.

Honorable Mention:
Aaron Brooks - Houston Rockets
24 pts (10-20 FGs, 2 3s, 2-4 FTs) 8 rebs, 6 asts and 2 TOs.
